Meet Miss Alexis Rogers

Miss Alexis renee Rogers

A second semester sophomore at The University of Missouri (Mizzou) my name is Miss Alexis Rogers a Broadcast Journalism major with a minor in Sociology. Since I began my college career I have devoted my time to academics and community service. I am an Anchor and Reporter at the local NBC affiliate KOMU 8, the secretary of MU’s chapter of National Association of Black Journalists, a media assistant for Mizzou’s athletic media department, and a member of the university’s Tour Team and United Ambassadors, which is a minority recruitment program. During my collegiate career thus far, I am striving to gain experience in the field of journalism along with being a well-rounded part of the community. My short term goal is to secure an internship in my hometown of Chicago during my summer break. It is my hope, dream, and aspiration to give a voice to the voiceless through journalism. Besides academic social clubs and studies, I have spent numerous hours at the Boys and Girls Club, Granny’s house, and babysitting. All in all, I keep myself quite busy.
This semester I have been selected to participate in the University of Missouri-Columbia Zeta Alpha Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Miss Black and Gold Scholarship Pageant. Judging in the pageant is based on the following segments: opening/introduction, sports/swim wear, talent segment, and impromptu question. I would love for everyone to attend, but I know with companies to run, weddings, and graduations coming up in the spring season that attendance may be a little difficult. Outside of segments in the pageant, we are judged by the number of ads that we sell. Your support in purchasing an ad that will be placed in the ad book for the pageant would be greatly appreciated. The ad book allots for the opportunity of not only support but business or personal recognition that will be viewed by university students, professionals as well as members of the community. The money collected will go towards the scholarships that will be awarded to the pageant winner. I am very excited about this pageant and I pray that my hard work does not go unrecognized. The scholarship pageant will be held at the University of Missouri on Friday, April 20, 2012. Your support in any fashion would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Miss Alexis Rogers
